Chester FC Women rounded off the 2023/24 season with a fourth successive win, beating Northwich Vixens.
The Blues took the lead on 19 minutes as forward Emma Gray rifled an effort into the top corner of the net, before the hosts levelled just six minutes later when a long ball over the top was poked home.
Chester restored their lead prior to the break though, as Rach Lloyd’s excellent pass was controlled and finished by Molly Wood for an incredible 40th goal of the season.
Gray extended the lead on 72 minutes, and again Lloyd was the provider, as her cross was headed home. Northwich pulled one back again with a stunning strike from range, but Martin Fitzsimons’ side held on for all three points.
The victory moved the Blues back up to second place, a position they will secure should Poulton Vics fail to win at Runcorn Linnets on Sunday.
