It’s Derby Day this Sunday, as Chester FC Women travel away to the Tetley Walker Recreation Ground to take on local rivals Warrington Wolves.
The Seals ended their three month wait for a league victory last Sunday, following a convincing 6-2 win against BRNESC Ladies to make it two wins on the bounce in all competitions. Prior to last weekend’s league win the Blues hadn’t won a league game since August, but seem to be gathering some of their early season momentum at just the right time ahead of Sunday’s big game.
Following the three points last time out Chester moved up two places to 5th in the league after claiming their fourth win of the season. A win that moved the Seals above this weekend’s opponents and rivals Warrington on goal difference.
Sunday’s opponents Warrington have endured a mixed first half of the season with just three wins to date so far this season from their nine games played. The Wolves currently have the same points tally as Chester but a far worse goal difference, which sees them sit in 6th place in the league table. A win for either side on Sunday and results elsewhere could see them finish as high as 4th in the league come close of play.
STAT ATTACK

Martin Fitzsimons’ Thoughts
“We've had 2 performances back to back that have been very positive which has in turn, produced a positive results. We're disappointed to concede the goals we did last week as we felt we controlled the game very well for the most parts. The feeling in the camp is good, and we're back to enjoying our football and we are back to looking composed in and around both boxes. The types of goals we've scored proved that”.
“Warrington will pose a different challenge. They're a always a well drilled team who just know how to get results, so it's the perfect next step for us in our season. We'll go there and focus on our game with the aim to produce another positive performance. I believe that will bring us another positive result”.
