Chester FC Women attentions once again turn to cup competition this weekend as they take on Premier Division Mossley Hill Ladies in the 2nd round of the Argyle Sports North West Cup.
The Blues will be looking for a response following last weeks 3-1 to Blackburn Ladies, a defeat that saw Chester exit The Women’s FA Cup at the 2nd round qualifying stage.
Sunday’s opponents Mossley Hill have endured a poor start to their league campaign picking up just one point from five games and currently lie 11th in the league.
Despite their run of form in the league, the Premier Division outfit come into the game on the back of an impressive 5-1 away victory against Ashton Town Lionesses in the FA Cup.
STAT ATTACK
- Chester are currently without a win in their last two games following back-to-back defeats.
- Mossley Hill have only managed to find the back of the net on three occasions so far this season.
- Chester have registered at least one goal in every game so far this season

Martin Fitzsimons’ Thoughts
“Against Blackburn, we got the reaction we were after. We competed well against a team from a higher league, we didn’t get the rub of the green with a few big decisions , but in spite of that. We still created some very good chances and proved what we’ve learnt from the previous game. But we’ve come away using the cliche ‘on another day’
“This weekend provides yet another opportunity to learn about teams in the higher division, and to build further on a positive performance. We know we can compete in that league and believe that’s where we should be, so it’s time to make sure the ‘another day’ is Sunday."
