MATCH PREVIEW: LITHERLAND REMYCA v CHESTER FC WOMEN

Chester FC Women will be looking to record back-back wins in the league, on Wednesday night, as they travel away to face Litherland Remyca Women at Chesterfield High School.

The Blues bounced back from an opening day defeat at Poulton Vics to record an impressive 3-1 home win against Ellesmere Port Town Ladies at the Leap76 Stadium.

Chester, backed by a crowd of over 160 fans, were awarded a penalty inside sixty seconds, Lucy Adderley stepped up and saw her spot kick saved by goalkeeper.

The Seals wouldn’t have to wait too long as Katie Priest headed home after six minutes following a corner. Chester would go on to double their lead in the second half, before Ellesmere Port halved the deficit with a penalty. But a late goal from Evie Halliwell two minutes from time ensured all three points and sent the Blues faithful home happy.

Wednesday night’s opponents Litherland Remyca have recorded one win from their two matches in the league with two very contrasting results.

Following an opening day 8-1 thumping of Northwich Vixens, a game that saw them 5-0 up at half time. The side were brought back down to earth the following game with a 6-0 defeat at home to Mossley Hill Athletic.

“Wednesday night was a great occasion for us, we started well and took an early lead. We arguably should have been further ahead at half time. That said we managed to pick it up in the second half and some great performances by some substitutes in particular Ash Bullock saw us over the line.

“Tonight we need to reach that level of performance and better. There were times I felt we were too open and didn’t do enough to numb their attack. But Wednesday is a different game with different challenges. Last season we drew 2-2 away from home. So we know they can punish us if we give them the opportunities.”
