Chester FC Women return to league action this weekend following a two-week absence, as they face Poulton Vics FC ladies at Helsby Community Sports Club.
The Seals have endured a stop-start campaign to date with both of their previous two games being called off due to adverse weather conditions. Chester manager, Martin Fitzsimons’ will be hoping his side can recover their early season form and put together a winning run before the second half of the season.
Following Chester’s postponements, the Seals currently find themselves 5th place in the table 9 points behind leaders Bury AFC Women having played a game less.
Sunday’s opponents Poulton Vics have enjoyed a fantastic start to the season winning six of their opening eight games with them just one point of the leaders in 2nd place. Chester inflicted Poulton’s first defeat of the season earlier on this season with a 6-3 away victory.
STAT ATTACK
- Chester will be looking to register their first win in the league this weekend since the 31st August
- A win for Poulton this weekend and results elsewhere could see them move top of the table
- Poulton are currently on a three match winning run in all competitions (2 League, 1 Cup)

Martin Fitzsimons’ Thoughts
“It’s been a very stop, start season so far for us. Sometimes in can’t be helped other times it’s left us feeling very frustrating. On Paper, we’re not in good form which adds to the frustration. When you’re not on a good run the only thing you want to do is get back out there and put it right. We’re itching to get back out there and there’s a big performance waiting to come out of us. We need to make sure that comes soon.
“As always, we’ve worked hard in training but transferring that over to match days is where the key lays. But we don’t need to panic. The league is tight this year. If we can put a run together which we are capable of. We’ll be right back in the mix.
