Chester FC entertain Buxton on Tuesday night, looking to make it two home wins in four days after Saturday’s victory over Gloucester City.
A 3 - 0 victory was just what Calum McIntyre’s men needed after two defeats on the spin at the beginning of 2024.
THE OPPOSITION
After an impressive 11th place finish last campaign in their first season in the National League North, the Bucks sit in 19th after 27 games, four points above the relegation zone.
On Saturday the club earned a hard fought point against King’s Lynn Town, coming back from two down through goals from Diego De Girolamo and Max Brogan.
This result brought to an end a run of three straight defeats, with Craig Elliott’s side last tasting victory on the 16th December, a 3-2 win at Spennymoor Town.
THE GAFFER
Craig Elliott
Craig Elliott took over at The Silverlands in December 2022 before guiding the club to within a point of the playoffs last season.
Elliott has previously managed at Matlock Town, Boston United, Shaw Lane, Ossett Town and Glasshoughton Welfare.
ONE TO WATCH
Diego De Girolamo
Italian striker Diego De Girolamo is the club’s top scorer this season with 10, and scored a crucial penalty in Saturday’s draw which started the comeback.
After starting his career at Sheffield United, the 28-year-old went out on loan at York City and Northampton Town, before signing for Bristol City in 2016.
De Girolamo joined the bucks in 2018, and has since scored 104 goals, while also winning the Supporters’ Player of the Year in the 2019/20 season.
