Police officers have arrested a man following an incident in Elton.
Shortly after 3pm on Monday 21st July, police were called to reports of a man, possibly armed with a weapon, who was being abusive towards members of the public on School Lane in Elton.
Local officers, supported by the Armed Response Unit and the National Police Air Service, were deployed to the scene and made a search of the area.
A 55-year-old local man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.
Inspector Deborah Morgan said:
"I understand the concern this incident is likely to have caused and I hope this arrest will provide reassurance for residents in the area and the wider community.
“There were no reports of any injuries during the incident and one man is currently in custody at this time where he is assisting us with our enquires.
“Officers remain in attendance at the scene to provide reassurance and anyone with any concerns is urged to speak to an officer.”
