The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation is hosting its first ever running event, Delamere Dash, in Delamere Forest, Cheshire, this September.
Runners can choose either a 5K or 10K distance, with both routes covering gravel and trail paths through the beauty and splendour of the forest.
Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, founded in the Northwest of England in 1990, enjoys the support of a dedicated group of runners.
Chelsea Mitchell, the charity’s running fundraising officer, said: “During the pandemic, our Roy’s Runners community kept on growing, as our virtual running events became very popular. We’re so excited to be able to finally host our very own fundraising run and bring our Roy’s Runners together in person.”
Runners can save £3 on their registration price if they sign up before midnight on 19th June. Registration is just £22 for either the 5K or 10K races, and includes a unique Delamere Dash medal, cotton t-shirt, goody bag and lots more. Details are at:

Chelsea Mitchell added, “Delamere Dash offers a fantastic course which is perfect for seasoned runners looking for a personal best, or a picture-perfect introduction to races for those just starting out.
The location couldn’t be more perfect, as the forest is particularly beautiful in the Autumn months. We hope runners can spot some wildlife en route!”
All money raised from this event will help fund vital research into the early detection of lung cancer, as well as support services that the charity provide for all those affected by the disease.
Chelsea Mitchell concluded, “Now more than ever, those who are living with lung cancer need our support. We are proud to provide much-needed support services such as a nurse-led helpline, video sessions, and information booklets for people who are affected by the disease.”
Delamere Dash takes place on 18th September 2022. Registration for the event is now open.
Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation has invested millions of pounds into research into the early detection of lung cancer, played a major role in the introduction of the ban on smoking in public places and has supported thousands of people living with lung cancer.
Founded in 1990, and initially known as the Lung Cancer Fund, the charity was renamed five years later after the death of TV presenter and entertainer Roy Castle. We honour his legacy, and that of everyone whose life has been taken prematurely by lung cancer, by continuing the work we began 32 years ago.
We fund research projects into lung cancer across the UK, we offer online and telephone support services as well as independently peer-approved information, we campaign on behalf of lung cancer patients and their families, we work constantly to increase awareness and understanding of the disease and its complex causes, and we aim to help prevent our younger generations from ever contracting lung cancer.
We are the only UK charity dedicated entirely to all forms of lung cancer.
