Local musician Danny Keatman has released his new single ‘Ladders’ on Halloween. Danny studied music at Chester University and has since made the city his home.
‘Ladders’ conjures up a chilled Americana vibe, notably different from his debut single ‘Tomorrow’, but is still unmistakably Danny Keatman.
Asked about his choice of release day, Danny said:
“I thought I’d release Ladders on Halloween. For any of us who are superstitious, it’s supposedly bad luck to walk under a ladder. The song is about facing up to life and making your own luck, so it’s really quite fitting - and of course a bit of fun!”
Speaking about his inspiration, Danny said:
“It’s funny sometimes where ideas come from. I was getting ready for college, but really not looking forward to it as I was finding life quite difficult at the time. I looked out of the window and saw a workman struggling to position a ladder, which inspired me to write a poem about life’s ups and downs. It’s kind of spooky how some songs just materialise, and Ladders is one of them.
With its life-is-a-rollercoaster chorus, “Up or down there’s no way around, nowhere to hide, just the long climb, some people say it feels like hell when you’re falling down,” ‘Ladders’ explores the search for our true selves and how we find ways through life’s setbacks.
Celebrating the release with a gig at The George & Dragon in Conwy on Saturday 15 November, Danny said:
“If you’re a fan of fun-filled, positive vibes - and supporting independent artists - do come and join me. It should be a great evening, so do come along and enjoy!”
‘Ladders’ will be available on Halloween on all streaming platforms.
