Sam Rowlands, Member of the Welsh Parliament for North Wales, has welcomed news that Flintshire County Council has once again been recognised for its outstanding support to the Armed Forces community.
The council has once again received the Gold Award, which represents the highest honour in the scheme, under the MOD's Gold Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS).
Mr Rowlands, a keen supporter of the Armed Forces said:
“I am delighted to hear that Flintshire council has received this prestigious award once again.
“In 2019 the council was one of the first four local authorities in Wales to receive this accolade and to retain the award is a fantastic achievement.
“I am always pleased to see support for the Armed Forces and their families including reservists and veterans as they all do a tremendous job protecting our country and deserve our full backing.
”Congratulations must go to everyone involved.”
To achieve the Gold Award employers must proactively demonstrate that the Armed Forces Community are not unfairly disadvantaged in the workplace and must offer exceptional support and advocacy for the Armed Forces community and veterans' employment.
The Armed Forces Community includes reservists, veterans and their families.
Organisations must reapply every five years to retain their Gold Award status.
