Samantha Dixon, MP for Chester North and Neston, has welcomed the announcement that a number of grassroots sports projects across the constituency have received vital funding as part of the Government’s Multi-Sport Grassroots Facilities Programme.
The funding, confirmed in a Written Ministerial Statement from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, will help improve local sports facilities, supporting healthier and more active communities.
In Chester North and Neston, two local projects have received funding for improvements ranging from storage facilities to new goalposts. The successful recipients include Christleton NewScene JFC at Newton Primary School and Chester Nomads at Chester Boughton Hall Cricket Club.
Commenting on the funding, Samantha Dixon said:
“I’m pleased that our community is benefiting from this latest round of investment in grassroots sport. These projects provide vital opportunities for people of all ages to stay active, connect with others, and enjoy the many benefits that sport can offer.
“Whether it's supporting youth football, improving equipment, or creating safe spaces to play, this funding will help strengthen the role that local clubs play as social and sporting hubs in our area.”
The Multi-Sport Grassroots Facilities Programme is part of the Government’s wider Plan for Change, which commits to making sport more accessible and inclusive.
