A charity is determined not to let lockdown spoil its Annual Summer Fair by taking the fun online instead.
Autism Together, which operates in West Cheshire, Wirral and North Wales, had planned to hold its annual summer event in the village of Thornton Hough, as has become traditional.
But, with lockdown safety concerns and social distancing rules to consider, it was decided rather than cancelling the event entirely to instead take all the best bits – the crafts, the food, the fun – and share them with people online.
Autism Together’s very first Virtual Summer Funday will now take place on the charity’s own Facebook page (www.facebook.com/AutismtogetherUK) on Sunday, July 5th.
The Summer Funday team will be taking over the page from 10am on the day to allow local makers and artisans to share their wares, alongside facepainting and hairdressing demos, horse riding, a magician, music and loads more.
There’s even a cutest pet photo competition to enter and vote on!
Chloe Jones, who is leading the charity’s Virtual Funday Team, said:
“After having to cancel a number of events back at the start of lockdown we were determined to keep this event on.
“The Summer Funday is an important part of our calendar and a vital fundraiser to help our charity too, so we’re encouraging everyone to visit our Facebook page during the day, check out some of the great content we’ll be sharing, and show their support for the work that we do.
“Expect engaging videos and lots of fun posts throughout the day to entertain and interest. We’ll be bringing you new Facebook posts every 15 minutes from 10am right through to 5pm. Can’t wait to see you there.”
Autism Together’s Virtual Summer Funday takes place on Sunday, July 5th, from 10am - 5pm.
