The Leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council has issued a statement following government announcements today.
Commenting on the latest government restrictions, Cllr Louise Gittins, Leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council, said: “The latest evidence of the faster transmission of the virus in parts of the country should concern us all.
“In Cheshire, we have also seen increases in the virus.
“Although we are remaining in Tier 2 for now, if the current trend continues we can expect further restrictions here in the new year.
“The progress we’ve already started to make in delivering the vaccine, including here in Cheshire West and Chester over the last fortnight, gives us hope for 2021.
“In the meantime, and with deep regret, we must all abide by the new guidelines for Christmas.
“Please keep yourselves, your loved-ones, and your community, safe this winter.”
