It is understood that Kimberley Clark is to close its Flint site.
The site employs more than 200 people and manufactures baby wipes.
The company has said that it cannot comply with UK Government legislation which, from October 1st, will ban the use of single use plastics in certain products.
Alyn and Deeside MP, from 2001 to 2024, and current Labour Party Parliamentary Candidate for the constituency, Mark Tami, has met with the company to discuss the issue over the past few months and lobbied the Government on Kimberley Clark's behalf.
Today Mark Tami said:
"This is deeply concerning news. I've written today to Kimberley Clark requesting an urgent meeting.
"These are hundreds of valuable jobs that we need to keep in Flint.
"Hopefully if we have a Labour Government on July 5 we can find a way through this."
