KEY THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT MANCHESTER AIRPORT THIS WEEK

As we approach what should be the busiest weekend for the UK’s third biggest airport, the Northern Hub is updating customers on its latest developments.

Terminals:

Throughout the pandemic the airport has worked closely with its airlines and retailers to align its operations with passenger demand, to deliver the best possible customer experience.

To efficiently meet the current capacity and demand for travel, flights currently operating from Terminal Two will move to Terminal One from 2^nd September.

Passengers are advised to check which terminal they’re flying from before arriving at the airport, as some airlines are operating from a different terminal than usual.

Flights:

Last week saw Portugal added to the ‘travel corridors’ list, opening up one of the airport’s most popular destinations without the need for quarantine upon return to the UK.  However, four countries were removed from the UK Government’s ‘travel corridors’ list, including Croatia and Austria.

Passengers should be aware that they will now need to quarantine on return to the UK if travelling to destinations removed from the travel corridors list. They are reminded to check the latest Government guidance on travel corridors and requirements upon returning to the UK: www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-travel-corridors

Some carriers might cancel services to destinations that are removed from the list, so passengers should check with their airline if they have any specific flight enquiries.

It is also important to take account of the latest Foreign and Commonwealth Travel advice relating to any restrictions in your destination, available at https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice.

A number of airlines are continuing to reintroduce routes and increase capacity to popular sunshine destinations, including some which aren’t currently subject to automatic quarantine requirements on your return to the UK such as Italy, Turkey, Cyprus and now Portugal. Also, this week Hi Fly is commencing flights to Islamabad.

UK Government Passenger Locator Form

With the Government’s relaxation of quarantine, and introduction of travel corridors, all passengers arriving into Manchester Airport need to be ready for UK Border control by completing a Passenger Locator Form. Upon arrival they will need to show either a print-out of the form or have it on their phone. Safety Measures:

For the last three months the airport has been operating a range of measures to keep all passengers and staff safe. These include wearing face coverings, enhanced cleaning, Perspex screens, bookable security slots and temperature checks. Retail Offering:

In addition to passengers being able to purchase food and drink, they can also take advantage of the free water fountains across the site to fill up empty bottles.

A number of ATM’s are now available across the airport in both airside & landside locations. Travelex Bureaus in Terminals One and Three have also now reopened.

Once Terminal Two closes so will the retail units within it.

“The protection of public health is rightly the number one priority at the moment, even though it may be disappointing for those passengers due to travel to countries like Croatia and Austria, who now have to quarantine for 14 days on their return.

“At the same time, we continue to talk to Government about restrictions being lifted on travel to popular destinations where infection rates fall to acceptable levels, and urge them to look at a more regionalised approach, particularly to Spain and its islands.

“To efficiently meet the current capacity and demand, we’ve made the decision to close Terminal Two from 2^nd September. This will allow us to provide the best possible customer experience for those that want to travel, safely through our other two terminals.”
