It is widely known that action needs to be taken to address the human-driven climate crisis. Chester Youth Climate Action Network (Chester Youth CAN) are a group of 12 young adults with a passion to create positive impacts.
We aim to move current and future practice in local industries to be more sustainable and towards Net Zero. We want to work with businesses to encourage them to shift away from fossil fuel dependence, reduce their pollution and nature destruction, and move towards a more circular material cycle with their products to produce less waste.
Our aim is to help the Chester region to take initiative and become a leader in business sustainability. We seek to do this by championing the voices of young people - who will inherit the climate crisis and all the responsibility that comes with it, yet whose concerns are often dismissed – empowering them to demonstrate leadership in initiating collaborations for more sustainable futures.
On Friday 17 June we will be leading the Youth Conference Day at the Chester Green Expo. We will deliver three workshops that will address urgent climate and nature crises in Cheshire, specifically focusing on businesses, energy use, and wildlife. We will also discuss the careers young people want to be available to them, to enable them to adopt both sustainable lives and livelihoods.
Chester Youth CAN exists to encourage and empower young people to challenge businesses, work with them on developing solutions to the climate crisis, and enable pursuit of environmentally friendly careers in their near futures.
