Brio Leisure are thrilled to announce they have secured funding for the summer holiday activities and food programme (HAF).
Four of the seven Brio Leisure centres will be offering engaging and enriching activities such as arts, sports, drama, and music to develop and strengthen skills and knowledge and in addition to that, all participants will receive a healthy free meal on a daily basis.
Activities and holiday fun will be taking place between July and August at Neston Recreation Centre, Ellesmere Port Sports Village, Winsford Lifestyle Centre and Northwich Memorial Court and will be available for children aged 5 to 18 all of whom receive benefits-related free school meals.
Since 2021, Brio have been working closely with Cheshire West and Chester Council to offer holiday activities to the local community and so far, the HAF programme has enabled the team to support children and their families throughout the Easter, Summer, and Christmas holidays!
To date, Brio has supported over 300 children to eat healthily and be more active over the school holidays ensuring safe fun for all, and all whilst reducing isolation in young people and children. This Summer, kids can choose from multi-sports sessions, fun & floats or arts, crafts and drama sessions all of which are designed to support the development of resilience, character and wellbeing along with their wider educational attainment.
Sarah whose children enjoyed the Neston Sports Camps during the Easter Holidays said "Jacob and Molly both absolutely love coming to sports camp, they have made many friends and come out telling me all about their day. They enjoy the dinners provided for them too. I feel my children are in safe hands with all the staff at the recreation centre. Thank you to all the staff for their hard work throughout the sports camp time”.
One parent of twins enjoys the SEND sessions and said “I have 9-year-old twins, one of my twins has autism and learning difficulties. We find it hard to get out as a family and days out are normally cut short because my son can’t cope. Sometimes we just can’t afford to pay for an activity to then leave shortly after. Opportunities like this take a big weight off our shoulders. The fact that it’s an SEN session will ensure that my son is calmer. It also gives me an opportunity to be with other families in a similar situation. Being an SEN parent can be very lonely and hard. To be able to experience the activity as a family is a lifeline, especially for my other son who is a young carer for his brother. We really would be very isolated without this wonderful service provided”.
With multiple sessions running throughout the holidays, there really is something for everyone to enjoy at Brio Leisure. If your children are in receipt of free school meals or any other qualifying benefit, you can sign up for your children by contacting your closest participating centre or click here, and choose your activity and centre and sign up!
Further information on eligibility for free school meals is available here.
If you don’t qualify for the HAF programme, Brio are also offering a 6-week junior splash pass this summer. Available to buy from the beginning of July online or in the centre, and available to use from the 22nd of July, your kids can enjoy unlimited* swimming in one of Brio’s 6 swimming pools across the borough. *T&Cs apply.
