School leaders at The Catholic High School Chester have expressed their admiration for students who collected their GCSE results today.
The atmosphere at the school was a mix of excitement and relief as Year 11 pupils received their much-anticipated results.
135 students at the Handbridge-based school were among the thousands across the UK who sat for their exams in May and June 2024.
One standout student, Peter Martinez, arrived with their family and was thrilled to achieve a series of high grades, including several 9s and 8s in subjects like Mathematics, English, and Science. Another high achiever, Khara Smith, excelled in subjects such as English, Drama and Religious Education, securing top marks. Oliver Witulski was also one of the school's high scorers, receiving brilliant results in Science, Maths, Geography and Business.
Both Khara and Oliver, along with many of their peers, will be continuing their educational journey by joining The Catholic High School Chester Sixth Form - which has a dedicated building, Emmaus on the school campus. The school offers a wide range of A-Level subjects, and students will have the opportunity to study in the recently upgraded facilities, which include state-of-the-art classrooms and bespoke study areas.
Headteacher Cathy McKeagney expressed her immense pride in the students. She said:
"The accomplishments of our students at The Catholic High School Chester are truly remarkable. They have not only achieved exceptional results but have done it with real determination and tenacity. Their perseverance and commitment to their studies have been exemplary, and we are confident they will continue to thrive in their future endeavours.”
For those interested in joining The Catholic High School Chester Sixth Form, the school is hosting an Open Evening on September 19th from 6-8pm, with an additional Sixth Form Open Evening in November.
