After receiving their GCSE examination results today (Thursday 21 August 2025), young people across Cheshire West and Chester have been celebrating their success.
This is testament to hard work and dedication to their studies, and comes with recognition that this cohort of students has shown real resilience, despite the disruption to the start of their secondary education being impacted by the Covid pandemic.
This success is also a result of the support of committed staff within schools who have challenged the borough's young people to secure the best possible outcomes. Parents and carers will be equally proud of the achievements seen today and the Council acknowledges the importance of the support and encouragement they have provided.
Councillor Adam Langan, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said:
“I am pleased to hear about the positive outcomes achieved across the borough today and would like to pass on my congratulations to all the young people who collected their exam results. I wish them continued success for the future as they embark on the next stage of their journey within education, employment or training”.
However, today may not be a time of celebration for everyone. Schools and colleges are there to offer support and guidance on next steps for those students whose results may not be all that they hoped for.
Additional support and guidance is also available for students from the following organisations:
- NHS 111 – visit online or call 111
- SHOUT – text SHOUT to 85252 or explore resources at Exam results - supporting your mental wellbeing | Shout 85258
- Paprus – call 0800 068 4141
- Samaritans – call 116 123
Congratulations to all young people who have completed this key stage in their education.
