After receiving their GCSE examination results today (Thursday 22 August 2024), young people across Cheshire West and Chester have been celebrating their successes.
It has been great to hear about all the achievements the young people across our borough have made this year. This is testament to all their hard work and dedication to studies with the added recognition that for this cohort, the start of their secondary education was impacted by the disruption of the Covid pandemic. We are delighted to join in their celebrations as they move onto the next phase of their education, employment or training.
This success is also a result of the support of committed staff within our schools who have challenged our young people to secure the best possible outcomes. We know that parents and carers will be equally as proud of the achievements seen today and acknowledge the importance of the support and encouragement they have provided.
However, we do recognise some young people may not have received the results they were hoping for, and schools and colleges can provide guidance on next steps for them.
Cheshire West and Chester Councillor Adam Langan, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said:
“I am pleased to hear about the positive outcomes achieved across the borough today and would like to pass on my congratulations to all the young people who collected their exam results. I wish them continued success for the future.”
