Final preparations are underway as members of a Frodsham based community theatre company are set to stage a musical version of a much loved Adam Sandler film.
The Zodiac Musical Theatre Company will stage "The Wedding Singer" at The Grange Theatre in Hartford near Northwich from Wednesday 8th November - Saturday 11th November at 7.30pm, with a matinee performance at 2pm on Saturday 11th November.
The show marks Lou Steggals directorial debut with the company and she will be joined by seasoned musical director Craig Price and choreographer Jessica Martin.
Founded in 1968, the company most recently staged a critically acclaimed production of "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" at Frodsham Community Centre.
Featuring music by Matthew Skylar and Lyrics by Chad Beguelin and based on the smash hit 1998 Adam Sandler film of the same name, The Wedding Singer is set in New Jersey in 1985 and tells the story of Robbie Hart, New Jersey's favourite wedding singer. Robbie is the life of the party until his own fiancée leaves him at the altar. Enter Julia, a winsome waitress who wins his affection. As luck would have it, Julia is about to be married to a Wall Street shark, and, unless Robbie can pull off the performance of a decade, the girl of his dreams will be gone forever.
The Tony nominated show, which originally premiered on Broadway in 2006 has since gone on to be performed in both the U.S A and the UK, including a 2020 production starring former Strictly Come Dancing star Kevin Clifton.
The show's director, Lou Steggals said "We're excited to be bringing this high energy show to The Grange Theatre. The Wedding Singer is packed with original songs but don’t be surprised if some of them sound familiar as every number is designed to be a pastiche to the iconic hits of the 1980s. Performed by a live band and an energetic cast, you will not want to miss this production!"
