A new, free business course starts in the new year offering residents aspiring to turn their hobbies and dreams into a profitable business the prospect of a prosperous 2022.
Residents from all age groups who harbour entrepreneurial dreams are being encouraged by Cheshire West and Chester Council and Let’s Talk Business to sign up for the ten-day course.
It is being run by the acclaimed Rebel Business School, led by successful entrepreneurs and professionals, and takes place on Zoom from 17 January to 28 January. Sign up at:

Simon Paine, Rebel Business School co-founder and CEO, said: “There’s nothing better than meeting someone with no business experience and guiding them through their first sale - it can transform lives.
“You don’t need money, experience or a university degree to start a business. You just need an idea, some passion and a bit of help.
“Many of those attending will leave with a business and a first sale. Those who don’t will still take away business skills, practical advice and confidence. We like to say: ‘this is the best business course money can’t buy.’”
The online training includes a mix of practical sessions, one-to-one coaching, workshop sessions and local peer support that residents can attend from their homes.
A former course member said: “Without Rebel I’d never have the confidence to start a business. It was something for other people with huge ideas and stacks of cash. Rebel changed my mind and helped me get going.”
Councillor Richard Beacham, Cabinet Member for Inclusive Growth, Economy and Regeneration, said: “Small businesses are the back bone of our economy, and supporting local residents to get started is a key priority for the council as we look beyond the pandemic. If you are thinking about self-employment or starting a business, then give this course a go. It is a great opportunity and is open to all ages.
“The course will provide the information, inspiration and practical advice to teach people how to build and evolve a business.
“It is designed to inspire people and help them find the confidence to try their business ideas, from those with no cash and no business experience to fledgling start-ups that need guidance to keep on track.”
The course teaches a range of work-focused skills aimed at helping people improve their job prospects, even if setting up their own business is a step too far.
The Rebel Business School programme is part of the Council’s West Cheshire Business Support programme which is delivering activities to help new businesses to start-up and existing businesses to adapt, upskill, and create jobs.
The programme is being funded through Additional Restriction Grant funding, part of which has already been used for Extended Restriction Grants. The programme will provide bite-sized training, workshops, networking, and online materials, to ensure as many businesses as possible, from across all sectors, can access professional support and advice. Additionally, eligible businesses will be able to access 121 support and some grants.
