The Community Chest scheme offers small grants to help projects and activities that work to enrich the local Flintshire community and its residents.
The Community Chest scheme is funded by Flintshire County Council and since 2015 it has been administered by Flintshire Local Voluntary Council (FLVC).
Over 300 grants have been awarded from the scheme and has supported a wide range of third sector groups and activities including sports and activity clubs, childcare organisations, training courses, and community facilities such as village halls.
Further details about the grants awarded can be found at FLVC’s website:

In July 2024, Members of the Council supported the continuation of the Community Chest grant funding scheme, subject to a review to be conducted in 2024/25.
Following this review, changes have been made to the application form to assist organisations on what to include when applying to enable a more efficient process.
Damian Hughes, Corporate Manager, Capital Programme and Assets said:
“It’s great to see so many organisations benefitting from this scheme to do good in our communities.”
Heather Hicks, Third Sector Development Officer for Flintshire Local Voluntary Council said:
“Flintshire Local Voluntary Council is proud to be part of the Community Chest programme – a fantastic and valuable scheme that supports local organisations doing vital work in our communities. We’re pleased to administer this fund on behalf of Flintshire County Council.”
Linda Thomas, Cabinet Member for Customer and Corporate Services said:
“The Community Chest is a great scheme supporting our communities to thrive. I’m pleased that we can continue to provide this opportunity to our Third Sector organisations and I would encourage those who are eligible, to apply.”
