Flintshire County Council issues a Fixed Penalty Notice for fly tipping

Flintshire County Council has recently issued a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) of £300 under Section 33 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 to an individual who disregarded their duty of care and disposed of household waste items on the street.

This successful investigation was carried out by the Council’s Enforcement Officers following ongoing issues of fly tipping in the Connah’s Quay area.

Flintshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Streetscene and the Regional Transport Strategy, Councillor Dave Hughes said:

“The Council receives and investigates around 1,400 fly tipping reports every year. 

Fly-tipping is never acceptable and is a criminal activity that can cause serious pollution to the environment, can be a risk to human health and can harm wildlife and farm animals, as well as needlessly diverting essential teams away from the frontline of waste collections.

This is an excellent result for the Council and demonstrates that this behaviour will not be tolerated.”

We urge residents to dispose of their waste items correctly by making use of their doorstep recycling and waste collection service or via one of the five household recycling centres (HRCs). Where a resident has a large amount of recycling and waste to dispose of then we recommend utilising the services of an approved skip hire company or waste disposal contractor.
