Members of Flintshire County Council and Army Cadets gathered just outside Ty Dewi Sant in Ewloe to proudly raise the flag for Armed Forces Week.
Chair of Flintshire County Council , Councillor Mel Buckley, along with Councillor David Evans, Armed Forces Champion, Captain Wyn Evans from the Reserves, and Army Cadets gathered just outside Ty Dewi Sant in Ewloe to proudly raise the Armed Forces flag. Along with other Councillors they came together to honour the bravery and commitment of our service personnel, both past and present.
Chair of Flintshire County Council Cllr. Mel Buckley said:
“The UK Armed Forces defend the country and its interests. Every day of the year they are busy working around the world, promoting peace, delivering aid, tackling drug smugglers, providing security and fighting terrorism. Armed Forces Day is a chance to show our support for the people who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to service families, veterans and cadets.
"We are proud to fly the flag which symbolises our support for the Armed Forces and an opportunity to show thanks in recognition of the sacrifices made by members of our armed forces, whether past or presently serving. It’s fantastic to see representatives of the Cadet Forces and Reserves joining us on this occasion.
” The Council will be re-signing the Armed Forces Covenant at its meeting in July, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring that those who serve or have served, and their families, are treated fairly and not disadvantaged by their service. National Armed Forces Day Wales is on Saturday, 28th June and is being hosted by Monmouthshire County Council.
