Flintshire County Council’s Access and Natural Environment Team have received another boost to efforts to improve the Flintshire Coast, with an award of £96,960 external funding from the Welsh Marine and Fisheries Fund.
The award marks another step forward in improving ‘Flintshire Coast Park.’ The funding will be used for ‘on the ground’ safety improvements and assessments. Greenfield Dock is a busy location for cockling, fishing, and people walking, wheeling and cycling the Coast Path, offering great views of the Estuary and is popular all year round.
The Dock is an important location for commercial cockling and fishing, generating jobs for the economy. It also attracts recreational fishing and offers easy access for people to enjoy the natural environment, to improve their health and wellbeing.
Councillor Chris Dolphin, Flintshire County Council Cabinet Member for Environment, Regeneration, Countryside and Tourism said:
‘This funding comes at a time when external funding is even more crucial. It will enable us to move forward in our ambition for an improved Flintshire Coast Park, whilst protecting users and visitors - who are the lifeblood of our coast. We are committed to ensuring they can continue to enjoy the coast safely for future generations, but it is only through external funding bids that our vision can become a reality.’

‘Greenfield Dock will benefit from £96,960.00 from the Welsh Government Welsh Marine and Fisheries Funding to further improve the Flintshire Coast Park.’
Flintshire Coast Park reaches across the Flintshire coast from Saltney to Talacre, taking in the Northern Gateway and Garden City, Connah’s Quay and Shotton, Flint, Bagillt, Greenfield, Llanerch-y-mor and Mostyn, and Gronant.
