Three volunteer crew members from RNLI Flint have been presented with a framed Letter of Thanks, from the charity’s Regional Operations Lead, for saving three lives and assisting another following callouts in September and October 2024.
Erin Brown was part of the crew who responded to an emergency call in September 2024. During the incident, Erin was transferred to provide casualty care and brought the person onboard the lifeboat. In the letter from Ryan Jennings, Regional Operations lead, Erin was praised for her ‘care, reassurance, and ability to gain the casualty’s trust,’ this continued during the casualties’ transit back to shore. The letter adds that Erin’s ‘quick thinking and calm approach undoubtedly made a difference in this rescue’.
In October 2024, Flint RNLI crew Carly McCarthy, Erin Brown and David Upson navigated challenging conditions during Storm Ashley to assist two people stranded on a broken-down yacht followed by another incident where a person was knee-deep in water at Connah's Quay. The second Letter of Thanks commended the three crew for their ‘professionalism, dedication, and courage,’ in quickly responding to the two incidents. Further noted was their ability to ‘adapt, act decisively, and work as a team under challenging and changeable conditions’ ensuring the best possible outcome.
Commenting on the recognition, Wayne Kerfoot, Flint Lifeboat Operations Manager, said: “These Letters of Thanks reflect the dedication, skill, and teamwork of our volunteers. Despite challenging conditions, their commitment to saving lives and upholding the RNLI’s One Crew principles by working together with shared purpose and values to ensure the best possible outcomes for those in need.”
Flint RNLI lifeboat station was established in 1966.
