The 2020/21 season begins for Chester FC this afternoon, with an FA Cup Qualifying Round clash at Worksop Town.
After a successful pre-season bringing seven victories from nine, the Blues hit the road hoping to start this season with a victory and progression in the most prestigious cup competition of them all.
On the player front, John Johnston is suspended for the game following his extremely harsh red card in the play-offs back in July.
Competitive debuts could come for the likes of Declan Weeks, Paddy Lacey and Brad Bauress – and forward Danny Elliott will be hoping to pick up where he left off in pre-season, bagging an impressive haul of seven goals.
Worksop ply their trade in the Northern Premier League Division One South East; and sat in 12th place in their division last season before the curtailment of the campaign due to the pandemic.
Our hosts have though made a flawless start this season, with four wins from four in all competitions.
Kick off is at 3pm today, with the winners of this tie will receive £3,375 in prize money – as well as advancing to two wins away from the First Round Proper.
In the event of a draw after 90 minutes, the match will go straight to a penalty shootout.
