The very first Chester organisation that will be featured on the new MONOPOLY: Chester Edition is the popular Chester-based charity KidsBank.
Yasmin East, Custom Games Executive at Winning Moves UK, said:
“A huge congratulations to KidsBank. We are delighted to welcome them onto the board. They are one of several charities that will get to star in the game following public nominations. KidsBank will feature on a Community Chest space, which we feel is very apt. We know from the nominations that poured in that they are a beloved part of the community. The other charities featuring in the game will be revealed when the board is out next month.”
Dee Denton, CEO at KidsBank, says:
“We are thrilled to be included on the brand-new MONOPOLY: Chester Edition board. We are also very proud and humbled to be recognised as a fundamental part of our community.”
KidsBank, whose hub is based on Garden Lane, Chester, supports children aged 0-12 years old, with its mission to make a difference in the lives of children and families facing adversity across Cheshire West and Chester and Flintshire.
The charity collects new and pre-loved items for babies and children – and by distributing them helps alleviate the impact of childhood poverty. KidsBank was set up in 2019 after its founder Cathy Pettingale was moved by an interview of a young mother who said she had to make choices between heating and eating for her family.
This special edition board is being produced by Winning Moves UK, an official MONOPOLY maker, under license from Hasbro, a leading toy and game company.
In all, over thirty Chester landmarks and organisations will be featured in the game, replacing the likes of ‘Mayfair’ and ‘Park Lane’ from the classic MONOPOLY original.
Over the last 25 years, Winning Moves UK has produced select official versions of MONOPOLY featuring locations across the world, from Palm Springs to Phuket and Dubai to Dublin.
Now, the MONOPOLY dice are rolling soon on Chester!
The MONOPOLY: Chester Edition hits the shops on Friday 1st November.
It will be available to purchase at Waterstones and WHSmith - as well as extensively online, including at Booghe.co.uk and Amazon.co.uk.
About MONOPOLY:
MONOPOLY first hit shelves in 1935 with the Racecar, Thimble, Boot, Top Hat, and Battleship among the original set of MONOPOLY tokens while the Scottie Dog and Wheelbarrow were added in the early 1950s. Although the brand has evolved over the past 89 years, the gameplay and iconography of the classic MONOPOLY game has remained unchanged, making it a timeless classic sure to be enjoyed by future generations.
Today, MONOPOLY is the world’s favourite family game brand and is enjoyed by more than one billion players in 114 countries across the globe.
