The Council are proud to announce that twelve care leaders from across Cheshire West and Chester have just wrapped up an inspiring journey through the My Home Life England Professional Support and Development Programme – and wow, what a ride it’s been!
Councillor Sheila Little, Cabinet Member for Adult Services, said:
“We are incredibly proud of our care leaders for their commitment to professional growth and high-quality care. This programme has empowered them to lead with confidence and compassion, and the positive impact is already being felt across our care services.”
Thanks to support from the Council, this dynamic group, including care home managers, clinical nurse leads, a deputy manager, and a wellbeing coordinator, spent 10 months diving into leadership development. They explored powerful frameworks like Relationship-Centred Care and Appreciative Inquiry and got hands-on with tackling real challenges head-on: complex care needs, staff wellbeing, and organisational change. And through it all, they found new ways to lead with heart, confidence, and resilience.
Here’s what happened:
-
Every single leader saw improvements in their leadership and ability to support staff.
-
90% felt more confident, communicated better, and enjoyed their jobs more.
-
80% felt more valued, and 67% said their stress levels dropped.
One participant shared:
“Learning how to effectively influence and motivate others really stood out, as did the strategies for promoting wellbeing among both residents and staff.”
Another said:
“After each session I came away feeling empowered with food for thought. The sessions gave me time to evaluate so many areas of my workplace.”
Even the facilitator was blown away:
“This programme has shown just how powerful it can be when leaders are given the time, tools, and trust to reflect, connect, and grow.”
The Council have been working with My Home Life England for two years now, helping around 30 care leaders grow and thrive. Huge congratulations to all the recent graduates – your dedication to high-quality care is truly inspiring!
