Ellesmere Port is in the Christmas spirit, with record numbers attending the annual Christmas festival.
Cllr Lisa Denson, Ellesmere Port Town Mayor, said: “I was delighted to see the community spirit on display at our Christmas festival, with lanterns, performances by local schools and lots of free and fun activities for families.”
After the festival, the Christmas lights were vandalised, necessitating their deactivation for repair. This is the fourth such incident of this nature.
Cllr Lisa Denson adds: “I am disappointed that a few vandals want to try to spoil Christmas for the many by vandalising our Christmas lights. Record numbers attended the festival and it’s clear that the vandals are against the community of Ellesmere Port, which I am proud to represent.”
Police & council officers are working to identify those responsible for the vandalism, and in the meantime work on repairs is already underway.
Cllr Lisa Denson concludes: “I appeal to the vandals to stop their behaviour - enough is enough. I’ll be working with police & council officers to identify those possible, and hope they are brought to justice. Our Christmas lights will be repaired as soon as possible, and I know that nothing will dent the resilience and spirit of our wonderful town.”
