This time next week, a courageous team from The Beyond Recovery Project, based in Ellesmere Port, will be heading to Morocco to take on a 100km trek across the Sahara Desert.
It will be a huge test of endurance, with scorching heat, endless sand, and long days, but every step they take will help support people across the UK who are living with the impact of a brain tumour diagnosis.
Within the team are nine individuals living with the lifelong effects of a various brain tumours and their treatments, and they're taking on the ultimate challenge to prove that life does not stop after diagnosis.
The team has trained tirelessly for this adventure, and their determination reflects the bravery of the people they are fundraising to support. They aim to redefine what recovery can look like after a life-changing, and in some cases life-limiting diagnosis.
The Beyond Recovery Project was founded by Sara Crosland, a brain tumour survivor and Ellesmere Port resident.
Sara says:
“This challenge is about showing what’s possible, even after something as life-altering as a brain tumour. The funds raised will allow us to continue supporting people as they rediscover life beyond diagnosis.”
The Beyond Recovery Project provides vital community programmes, wellbeing walks and events, trauma counselling, peer support and if course biggest challenges such all this trip for people affected by brain tumours
