Ellesmere Port welcomed hundreds of comic, anime and Halloween fans as Ellesmere Port Market hosted the third successful Comic Con (Saturday 28 October) of the year.
The free event was held in the Flea Market area of the market.
There was a host characters meeting fans during the day including Sonic, Pikachu, Olaf, Mario/Yoshi, Billy (from the Saw films) and Tails.
A popular Cosplay Competition featured a wide range of spectacular costumes ranging from anime characters to Spiderman and Captain America and for Halloween there were a few Wednesday Adams lookalikes a vampire and witch.
Crewe-based author Sue Eaton, a horror and Science fiction fan was signing copies of her first book ‘The Woman who was not his wife’ and her latest ‘The Ceres Illusion’.
Ellesmere Port also welcomed CBBC star Phil Fletcher with Hacker the Dog and actors Simon Fisher Becker (Doctor Who, Harry Potter) and Clem So (Doctor Who, Star Wars, James Bond, Detective Pikachu & more).
Councillor Nathan Pardoe, Cabinet Member for Inclusive Economy, Regeneration and Digital Transformation said:
“Three successful comic cons this year have brought a great space in Ellesmere Port Market to life and showed off its potential.
"The transformation of Ellesmere Port Market includes plans for investment in the market hall and the flea market, and displays will be in the market later this week so visitors can see the concepts for themselves.”
The plans will improve the appearance and thermal efficiency of the market hall, support local market traders and help future-proof Ellesmere Port Market for many more years to come.
There are still a few more events taking place in the flea market this year, The Memory Fairs Return (Craft & Gift Event) on Saturday 11 November, there will be a Christmas Market on the 9 and 16 December (10am to 4pm). Santa’s grotto will be on the 9, 16 and 17 December in the Indoor Market. The Flea Market is on Sunday, Monday and Thursday between 8am and 2pm
Ellesmere Port Market is booking events up to March 2024 after which the works will start.
