Ellesmere Port market has a new children’s soft play area adding to the colourful murals created in December.
SPI Global Play have created an adventure area for young children in the market, expanding the café area to offer more areas to meet friends and relax during visits to the market.
The soft play area features a wide range of fun activities including a giant jigsaw, a block sorter, a convex and an infinity mirror, giant noughts and crosses game, a soft play rocker, chocolate step stones, and a slide all surrounded by foam walls.
Councillor Richard Beacham, Cabinet Member Cabinet Member for Inclusive Growth, Economy & Regeneration said: “Ellesmere Port Market has always been a central part of the town centre, its traders and café area, flea market and Ellesmere Port Social play a key role offering great value for money, whilst also being a meeting place for many people.
“There has been a lot of activity recently, the colourful new murals by artists Graham Boyd and Nikki Pinder were completed last month, working with 25 local children. And now our younger visitors have their very own area to explore and play in.
“This is part of our wider plans for Ellesmere Port town centre to create the right environment for businesses to thrive and making sure there is more to do for residents. There has already been significant investment in the last few years, including the new bus interchange, the new ‘Theatre Porto’ which opened last August, the new public sector hub and also Green Flag status for Whitby Park. All of these projects are raising the profile of Ellesmere Port and bringing new footfall into the heart of the town.
“We are committed to improving Ellesmere Port town centre and in the year ahead we have secured a further £1 million of funding to take forward more projects."
The free play area is suitable for three-year-olds and under, with space for six children at a time. Children must be accompanied by an Adult.
SPI Global Play, based in Wrexham have created play areas in 52 countries and 25,000 attractions, they claim an audience of over one billion children a year enjoying their play areas.
The next event arriving at Ellesmere Port Market is a new Comic Con on Saturday 28 January 10am to 4pm including character appearances, merchandise stalls and cosplay competitions with prizes.
Ellesmere Port Market is open six days a week (closed on Wednesday) with a flea market on Sunday, Monday and Thursday.
