An Ellesmere Port community group is inviting residents to get involved in their work to keep the town blooming.
For a number of years the Ellesmere Port in Bloom group has entered the North West In Bloom competition, last year scooping a prestigious Silver Award.
North West in Bloom is the regional organisation that administers the Britain in Bloom competition across Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside.
This year the group is focusing on the new Sensory Garden near the Civic Hall and 20 planters around the town, which have made impressive displays.
Schools, community groups, residents, businesses, allotments, and youth groups are now being invited to play their part to help the group with planting, watering and clean up days.
Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment, Transport and Highways, Councillor Karen Shore, said:
“It’s all about bringing members of the community together to make a positive change to the place they live, work, or spend their leisure time.
“Last year’s entry was a big success and showcased what wonderful results were being achieved.
“The group need more help to keep everything looking beautiful, so new volunteers would be very welcome. If you’d like to be involved, please get in touch.”
Vice-chair of the Ellesmere Port in Bloom group, Chris Brown said:
“Everyone works really hard and we’ve achieved some great results but we need more pairs of hands.
“If you, or your group, would like to join us and help us to plant, water and care for our existing planters, and wonderful sensory garden, please let us know either by email or via our Facebook group. We’re grateful for any time you can spare."
