An Ellesmere Port firefighter is set to embark on the challenge of a lifetime by completing 30 half marathons in 30 days.
Firefighter David Scott is set to begin his daunting charity challenge on Saturday 1 August.
Over the following month, he has to run more than 393 miles.
A JustGiving page has been set up for the challenge and all the money raised will go to The Fire Fighters Charity.
Founded 77 years ago, the charity is the UK’s leading provider of services that enhance the quality of life for serving and retired fire service personnel and their families.
David said: “The Fire Fighters Charity provides essential support to both serving and retired firefighters.
“The charity relies on donations and fundraising for the vital respite, recuperation and rehabilitation that it provides for sick and injured firefighters and their families.
“The coronavirus pandemic has caused a massive reduction in the level of funding The Fire Fighters Charity has received this year.
“As a serving firefighter, I feel compelled to do all that I can to help make up the deficit.
“I wanted to do something different, which is why I’ve decided run 30 half marathons in the same number of days.
“While it’s an extremely daunting challenge, it’s one which I’m really looking forward to.”
As part of the fundraiser, David will be running across the county, travelling between Cheshire Fire and Rescues Service’s community stations.
He will also be joined by a number of his colleagues as he completes each leg of the challenge.
Station Manager David Rutter said: “David is a real asset to the team here at Ellesmere Port and I wish him the best of luck for his challenge.
“Running 30 half marathons in 30 days will be an outstanding achievement and not something that many people would be able to achieve.
“A JustGiving page has been created for David’s challenge and we are hoping to raise at least £1,500 for the Fire Fighters Charity.
“I would urge people to donate as much money as they can for the fantastic work that the charity does.”
