The first alumni event at the Catholic High School in Chester has been hailed as a ‘huge success’ by school leaders.
The new alumni group was launched by the Handbridge-based school in December and already has nearly 1,000 members on its:
Last week, the school held a cheese and wine night, allowing alumni to meet in person, reunite with old schoolmates, and share memories.
More than 70 people turned out at the event, held in the purpose-built Emmaus Sixth Form building, including two school friends who hadn’t seen each other for 46 years.
Attendees ranged from the class of 1972 right up to 2022 and also included teachers who currently work at the high school now.
Cathy McKeagney set up the group as part of the celebrations to mark the 50 years of the school.
She said: “What a wonderful evening! It was amazing seeing so many people reunite after many many years and tell us all their special and funny memories from their time here at our school.”
As part of their alumni activity, the school also launched a podcast, which kicked off with former pupil Chris Larsen, an internationally renowned mindset and performance coach and owner of Leap 76, who was interviewed by Mrs McKeagney about his life at school and what he’s done since, including his return to the school as a mentor.
Mrs McKeagney said: “We have even more podcasts and events planned over the next 6 months - and we are encouraging as many alumni as possible to get on board and join us in this very special celebratory year.”
