Final rehearsals are underway at a Chester theatre for the staging of a black comedy based on the iconic board game Cluedo.
Following on from the success of 'Allo Allo', Chester Little Theatre will stage 'Cluedo' from Saturday 8th November - Saturday 15th November at 7.30pm. The play will be directed for Chester Little Theatre by Lexie Fox-Hutchings.
Written by Sandy Rustin and based on the screenplay by Jonathan Lynn whose credits include 'Yes Minister' and 'Yes Prime Minister', 'Cluedo' is based on the 1985 American cult classic film 'Clue' which starred Rocky Horror legend Tim Curry as Wadsworth the Butler and Back to the Future's Doc Brown, Christopher Lloyd as Professor Plum.
The play sees six strangers being invited to a very unusual dinner party at secluded mansion. Each of the guests has been given an alias, the butler offers a variety of weapons, and the host is, well . . . dead. So whodunnit? Will 'Plum', 'Scarlet', 'White', 'Green', 'Peacock', and 'Mustard' solve the mystery and find the murderer in Boddy Manor before the body count stacks up? Join the cast of this madcap comedy to find out!
Speaking about bringing 'Cluedo' to the stage, Lexie Fox-Hutchings said:
"As both a comedy and murder mystery fan, I absolutely love the 1985 Tim Curry film 'Clue', which 'Cluedo' is an adaptation of, so when I found out that 'Cluedo' was available for performance in the UK, I couldn't wait to see how it had been adapted. As soon as I read it, I knew I wanted to direct it, but thought it seemed very complicated, and it is, but I have been blessed with a hugely talented cast and crew, so I am very excited for audiences to see what we have achieved."
