Landmarks in Cheshire West and Chester will be illuminated in red, white and blue with the help of the Council’s Street Lighting team.
Building and structures across the borough will light up the night skies from Friday 8 May to Monday 11 May as part of the VE Day celebrations.
Part of Wyvern House in Winsford, the front of the Library in Civic Way in Ellesmere Port, the Town Hall in Chester and working jointly Northwich Town Council and Canal & River Trust, the Northwich Town Bridge, are among the landmarks that will glow in celebration from this Friday at dusk.
The Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment, Highways and Strategic Transport, Councillor Karen Shore said: “I’m delighted our Street Lighting team has been able to work with a local supplier to make this happen at locations across the whole borough.
“Although we will all be a home following Government guidance, perhaps enjoying a ‘Stay at Home’ VE Day Street Party, and won’t see the displays, it’s a wonderful way to show the Council’s support and appreciation of the 75th Anniversary of VE Day, to remember the heroes and the sacrifices they made to make it happen.”
The Council asks anyone who sees the displays while out for essential trips from their home to please follow social distancing guidance in these areas. Share your VE Day celebration at: www.cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk/inspire-cheshirewest.
