Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Environmental Services team is a finalist in four categories at the Association for Public Service Excellence (APSE) Annual Service Awards.
The team has been nominated for awards in the Best Team, Parks, Grounds and Horticultural Services, Best Team Street Cleansing and Streetscene Service, and Best Innovation or Demand Management Initiative categories.
Furthermore, in a joint submission with Cheshire West Recycling, the team is also a finalist in the Best Team Waste Management and Recycling Service category.
The awards are extremely competitive, with over 300 submissions from across the UK. The APSE state that only the very best submissions have been shortlisted in each category and that the Council is to be commended for reaching the finals.
APSE promote excellence in public services, and hosts a network for frontline service providers in areas such as waste and refuse collection, parks and environmental services, cemeteries and crematorium, environmental health, leisure, school meals, cleaning, housing and building maintenance.
The Awards will take place on 13 and 14 September 2023 in Belfast.
The Council Environmental Services team were also finalists at the Municipal Journal (MJ) Achievement Awards and the Local Government Chronicle (LGC) Environmental Service Awards earlier this year.
Councillor Karen Shore, Deputy Leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council and Cabinet Member for Environment, Highways and Transport, said:
“On behalf of everyone at Cheshire West and Chester Council, I want to pass on a big congratulations to the team for reaching the finals of the APSE Service Awards in four categories. We have a great team who put our residents at the heart of everything they do, and I would like to personally thank them for their fantastic work. It is brilliant that this has also been recognised nationally by APSE.”
