Cheshire West and Chester Council is urging people to prioritise their mental health over this year’s unusual festive period.
Councillor Louise Gittins, Leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council said: “Our mental health is affected by what’s happening around us and concern about the coronavirus pandemic may put extra strain on us all this year. Many people already find this time of year quite tough anyway or it might be a time of year you really look forward to and are very disappointed that things can’t be the same this year. It’s vitally important that everyone takes time now to focus on the positive steps that can create good mental health and wellbeing."
Adopting the ‘five ways to wellbeing’ can really help. These five steps have been researched and developed by the New Economics Foundation1 as being key elements that contribute to our mental wellbeing.
They are: stay connected, be active, keep learning, give and take notice. Applying these five steps can help maintain a positive approach to each day.
