Cheshire West and Chester Council is recruiting for more Shared Lives carers – local people who are willing to open their homes and offer support to adults with care needs.
Shared Lives provides a truly person-centred model of care, where approved carers welcome someone into their home and offer support as part of everyday family life. This unique, family-based approach helps people live well, develop independence and feel genuinely included.
The scheme offers a flexible range of support options, including:
Long term placements for individuals who benefit from ongoing, consistent support in a family environment
Short breaks and respite, giving people the chance to stay somewhere new while offering important support to their existing carers
Councillor Sheila Little, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, said:
“Shared Lives carers make a real difference. They help people live more independently, build relationships and feel part of their community.
We want to hear from anyone with time, space and a caring nature who could offer support in their home. You don’t need formal qualifications – just empathy, reliability and a willingness to help someone live a good life.”
Shared Lives carers play a vital role in supporting adults with learning disabilities, mental health needs and other support requirements to build confidence, maintain relationships and feel part of their community.
We are working alongside Shared Lives Plus, the UK’s national support organisation for Shared Lives, to develop and grow our local service.
If someone would like more information, they can email the Shared Lives team at:
