Cheshire West and Chester Council officers thoroughly investigated a number of fly-tipping incidents last month and as a result two culprits each received a £400 fine.
The fixed penalty notices (FPNs) were issued for fly-tips at Mount Pleasant Drive in Winsford and Station Road in Ellesmere Port.
The fly-tipped rubbish included numerous bags of household waste, children’s toys and even a chair and sofa.
The Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment, Highways and Strategic Transport, Councillor Karen Shore said: “Our Regulatory Services teams are intensifying their efforts to clamp down on fly-tipping in the borough.
“There is absolutely no excuse for fly tipping, not only is it an eyesore on our environment and can potentially attract unwanted pests, but it is also extremely costly for the Council to clear it up. We will take any steps necessary to find offenders and take robust action against them.”
The investigation team previously issued a number of warning letters during September in these areas.
If you discover illegal tipping of waste or see it being tipped, report it 24 hours a day on the Council’s website or ‘Report It’ app.
Anyone with footage or photographs of fly-tipping can email:
RegulatoryServices@cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk
The Council’s Regulatory Services team asks residents to share as much information about the footage as possible, such as:
- The date, time and location of the incident
- A description of what waste was fly-tipped
- Whether there were any other witnesses and their details
- How many people were seen to dump the waste and any distinguishing features or a description of what they looked like
- Details of any vehicles involved (make, model, colour and registration number).
