A week-long campaign to combat anti-social behaviour (ASB) in West Cheshire has led to action being taken against neighbourhood nuisance issues.
Throughout the week, officers and community safety wardens from Cheshire West and Chester Council worked with partners to tackle and prevent ASB across the borough.
Officers from Cheshire Police have worked to shut down an Ellesmere Port property which was making life miserable for local residents. The level of anti-social behaviour coming from the property was so great that a three-month closure order has been imposed on it.
In Chester, Council Community Safety Wardens have worked with the Streetcare team to clean up graffiti in the city.
In other parts of the borough, Council youth workers have been engaging with young people around all aspects of anti-social behaviour and personal safety.
Organised by RESOLVE, ASB Awareness Week is a week of action dedicated to bringing together people and organisations from across the country to take a stand and make communities safer.
But the good work will not end after the week-long campaign because the Council and partners will continue to press hard on ASB-related issues throughout the summer.
Councillor Robert Cernik, Cabinet Member for Children and Families said: “Tackling ASB is more important than ever before because it is on the rise, including here in Cheshire West and Chester.
“ASB is not low-level crime, it can devastate the lives of victims and communities. People deserve to feel safe where they live.
“Tackling ASB is a priority for the Council and the Community Safety Partnership. Working with our key stakeholders and raising awareness throughout the week has helped to show communities the hard work that our Community Safety Team and partners put into making Cheshire West and Chester a safer place to live.”
