Cheshire West and Chester Council is asking for witnesses to help officers investigate a large-scale fly-tipping incident on Barrow Lane, Dunham on the Hill.
A caravan has been placed into another caravan and then both have been dumped on the lane, blocking the road, on either Saturday night or Sunday morning last weekend.
The Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Environment, Highways and Strategic Transport, Councillor Karen Shore said: “Our officers are now investigating the site and arranging for the vehicles to be removed as soon as possible, after we were contacted by Cheshire Police’s Rural Crime Team. In the meantime, the lane has been closed as a safety precaution.
“There is no excuse for fly tipping at all, it costs money to clear away and affects our communities, as well as potentially local wildlife. In this case it has also caused a dangerous obstruction on the road. We will take any steps necessary to find and prosecute offenders.
“If anyone saw these caravans in transit this weekend or has any information regarding this incident please get in touch.”
Anyone with information can report it to the Council’s Regulatory Services team on 01244 973708 or anonymously via Crime Stoppers.
If you discover illegal tipping of waste or see it being tipped, report it 24 hours a day on the Council’s website or ‘Report It’ app.
