On Thursday 6th July, members of the public and organisations who go above and beyond to make Cheshire even safer were recognised with awards from Police and Crime Commissioner John Dwyer at a ceremony at Constabulary Headquarters.
Nominees were identified by those in the policing family, who couldn’t speak more highly of the people they had put forward for recognition, and special commendations were also given to people who have gone the extra mile to help and support the police in keeping Cheshire’s communities safe.
The evening saw awards going out covering four categories, which were; the Community Champion Award, Service Excellence Award. Young Volunteer Award and Volunteer Award.
The Community Champion award recognised individuals or community groups who regularly go above and beyond, or have delivered a project that has had a positive impact in their community.
The Service Excellence Award was presented to partner organisations or commissioned services in recognition for the work they do with the police to prevent and tackle crime, support victims and survivors, or help the most vulnerable in our communities.
The Volunteer and Young Volunteer Award recognised service excellence for volunteers who had made a positive impact in policing.
Police and Crime Commissioner, John Dwyer said:
“I was delighted to see some real community champions given the recognition they deserve at my first Commissioner’s Awards, and to see the spotlight shine on the unsung heroes who work closely with the police to keep our county safe.
“The fact that the nominations were submitted by members of the policing family who work regularly with them is a huge testament to the impact that their work and actions have.
“I want to thank everyone who does their bit to help the policing family, we couldn’t fulfil our roles without you.”
