Today, Thursday 30 September, Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire, John Dwyer, has launched a competition asking local primary school children to design some festive images for this year’s Christmas Cards.
The Commissioner is inviting young people from across Cheshire to get creative and come up with some designs which will be used on his Christmas cards this year. All entries will be judged by the Commissioner and the winners will receive a prize.
This year, the Commissioner is looking for four bespoke designs. One from each of the Local Authority areas in the county. These are:
· Cheshire East
· Cheshire West and Chester
· Halton
· Warrington
Primary school children up to age 11 can submit an original design for the Commissioner to consider. Entries can be submitted as a drawing, painting or photograph; they must be Christmas-themed, of A5 size (portrait or landscape orientation) and can be in colour or black and white. The competition is free to enter.
All entrants should include their name, age, contact number (of a parent/guardian or school) and include the name and address of their school on the reverse of their design. Please do not include this as part of the design itself.
John Dwyer, Police and Crime Commissioner, said: “I know some people will feel it’s a little too early to mention the word Christmas, but it’ll be here before you know it.
“I’m excited to see the imaginative ideas which the children will come up with and I want young people show me their best creations. I think it’s a lovely idea to send a Christmas card featuring designs from Cheshire’s children of and spread festive wishes to others, especially after the turmoil of the last couple of years.”
