Cheshire West and Chester Council Conservative Group has paid tribute to Cllr Stuart Parker on receiving his MBE at Chester Town Hall on 11th July.
Commenting, the Conservative Group said:
“We would like to extend our very sincere congratulations to our colleague and friend, Cllr Stuart Parker, who received his MBE yesterday at a special presentation ceremony at Chester Town Hall. The Lord Lieutenant, Lady Redmond, the King’s representative in Cheshire, presented Cllr Parker with his award and the Deputy Lord Mayor of Chester, Cllr Razia Daniels, read the Royal Citation in the presence of family and friends.
As Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure, Regeneration and Growth, Cllr Parker was instrumental in the delivery of Chester’s iconic cultural attraction, Storyhouse, which became a reality in 2017 following many years of dedicated hard work. Similarly, he has long been an advocate of the Northgate regeneration scheme which is proving to be a considerable success for the city and wider area. The awarding of the MBE was announced as part of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Birthday Honours which coincided with her Platinum Jubilee in 2022 and was cited for services to local government. We are delighted to see Stuart recognised in this way and pay tribute to his long and dedicated public service both to the residents he represents and our borough as a whole.”
Cllr Stuart Parker is one of the current councillors for the Christleton and Huntington Ward of Cheshire West and Chester Council which he has represented since 2019. Prior to that he was councillor for the Chester Villages Ward of CWaC, elected in 2008 before the unitary authority assumed its legal powers in 2009. He was first elected to Chester City Council in 2007 and was Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure. As part of CWaC he was Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure, Regeneration and Growth until 2015. In that role, in addition to leading the delivery of Storyhouse from a council perspective and the Northgate regeneration vision, he helped to create Brio Leisure. He was Shadow Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure until 2023 and also serves on Cheshire Fire Authority.
