Chester’s eco-friendly welcome

New and creative signage with a difference will welcome Chester visitors from this weekend.

The sunshine has returned and specific hot spots at the Chester Amphitheatre and Grosvenor Park will have new pavement stencils using environmentally friendly paint to remind visitors to maintain social distancing and also for those less familiar with the city there are directions to the public toilets at the Groves. 

Councillor Louise Gittins, Leader of Cheshire West and Chester Council said: “We are seeing rates of COVID-19 increasing again and we are doing all we can to keep people safe so they can enjoy the city. 

“Regrettably we have experienced some antisocial behaviour at the Amphitheatre, so we have colourful pavement stencils showing people where the nearest public toilets are. Grosvenor Park is one of the best places in the city centre to relax and enjoy nature or the thrill of live theatre, with the return of the Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre. The new pavement signs here are reminding people to give each other some space.” 

Chester based Green Street Media has created the new signs using their Temporary Paint, the world’s only eco-friendly permanent yet removable paint. Green Street Media explained: “Our Temporary Paint is a unique, eco-friendly water-based acrylic paint that follows an entirely non-hazardous removal process. 

“Temporary Paint is a product used for short-medium term graphic installations that is an entirely biodegradable paint, acting as a permanent paint until eventually biodegrading and weathering away after several month. Temporary Paint can also be removed earlier using an eco-friendly removal formula. 

The Grosvenor Park message is: Let’s give each other space in our open spaces. The stencils around the Amphitheatre say: Spend a penny in the right place. With directions to the public toilets.
