Two Chester school girls have gone the extra mile to thank local NHS heroes battling Covid-19.
Sisters Matilda Davies, 8, and Edith Davies, 12, who attend Guilden Sutton Primary School and Bishops’ Blue Coat High School respectively, have created a heart-warming animated video and helped to make a sign located near the Countess of Chester Hospital to say thank you to frontline healthcare professionals.
Edith and Matilda’s mum Susie explained that the girls wished to express just how proud they are of the NHS and how important it is for the community to do their part.
She said: “They are very crafty, art-loving girls who enjoy making things and this has been a really fun project. Look out there could be more!”

The animated video follows a character made out of modelling clay eating, working and exercising all without leaving the house. It ends with the poignant message: “Stay in and you will be the NHS Hero!”
Susie added: “Edith and Matilda understand how important it is to stay at home, even though they are out of their normal daily routine, because they know that by doing so they are helping to protect other people. I’m really proud of them for doing it and the support they are showing for our local NHS workers.”
The Countess of Chester Hospital’s Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Nursing & Quality, Alison Kelly, said: “We have been delighted with the many messages of support and truly heart-warming acts of kindness we have seen from our local community. Edith and Matilda’s video is not only incredibly creative, inspiring and positive it also shares a very important message in asking people to stay at home right now. I would like to thank them for their support and for helping us to share this advice.”
